With the Monaco Yacht Show fast approaching, we take a look at what to expect from this year’s hotly-anticipated event

Words: Selma Day

The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is one of the most important yacht shows in the world – a dazzling showcase of all things relating to the world of luxury yachting that attracts more than 30,000 visitors each year.

This year’s event will take place from September 25-28 in the principality’s Port Hercule, hosting over 580 yachting companies and displaying 120 superyachts from some of the world’s most iconic brands. Jonathan Beckett, CEO of Burgess, whose headquarters are in St James’s, explains why the MYS is such an important date in the calendar: “With our headquarters a stone’s throw from Mayfair, we know there is an undeniable tie between both Monaco and Mayfair – a lot of clients have residences in both locations and regularly travel between the two.

“We always have an impressive turnout of yachts, and aim to bring 60 people from our global team down to assist our clients.” He adds that this year, the company has seen a huge appetite for inclusion from its sales fleet, with an already full line-up and numerous yachts on the waiting list to get a berth.

“This is unheard of so early on,” he says. “So, we are very excited about this year's show and will be highlighting a lot of extra special elements on our stand.”

But it’s not just about superyachts. The show also offers a glimpse into the latest  technological advancements and cutting-edge designs in yachting, with the opportunity to meet industry experts who can assist you whether you are a novice and simply exploring the possibility of chartering or buying a yacht, or you are an existing yacht owner looking to expand your knowledge or need advice for a new project.

Jayne Alexander, managing director/founder of Mayfair-based specialist brand communications agency Dovetail – marine & aviation, says: The Monaco Yacht Show is an incredible opportunity to meet thought leaders from the worlds of marine, aviation and technology.

“The order books for the shipyards give an accurate indication of the trends for yachting in adventure and exploration, as well as those built purely for pleasure.

“We have attended the MYS over several years representing superyacht marinas, The World Residences at Sea (the only ship of its kind), specialist yachting interior designers and yacht brokers.

“It is a week to share the news of exciting and ground-breaking launches, as well as understanding the future and direction of responsible travel and yachting. And we often meet up with our neighbours and friends at the MYS, who are also headquartered in Mayfair.

A highlight of the show will be the Sustainability Hub. Launched in 2022, it has established itself as an essential platform for promoting more responsible practices within the industry. This year, the MYS show is looking to strengthen collaboration with key partners to develop solutions and encourage higher sustainability standards.

At the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, you’ll be able to discover the latest trends in yacht design, while – aiming at an increasingly younger market – the Adventure Area will showcase the latest equipment and services for those looking for more hard core sea adventures.

Another Mayfair-based company that will be present at the show is Bang & Olufsen – in partnership with Bond Technologies. “The Monaco Yacht Show is an event we look forward to each year,” says John Howard, Bang & Olufsen’s global head of enterprise. “It offers us the unique opportunity to connect with our valued Mayfair clients in an extraordinary environment.

“This year holds additional excitement for us as we debut our product collaboration with Riva Yachts at the Ferretti Group stand during the boating season. We have harnessed the finest artisanship to create two exceptional speakers. We eagerly await the opportunity for attendees to experience these audio masterpieces first-hand.”
