Once home to a grand farmhouse, Bovino is one of the most exclusive steakhouses in the Algarve. Located in a prime spot, overlooking the lake and the Ria Formosa Natural Park, it serves up premium beef from Ireland, Argentina, USA and Australia, dry-aged for 28 days, with cuts to suit all tastes – Fillet, T-bone, Ribeye, Chateaubriand, all served with a variety of sauces. But there are plenty of other options including lamb, pulled pork and seafood and salads. The more health conscious can also dine at the resort’s Pure Café where guests have the option to build their own nutritional salads packed with superfoods or enjoy freshly-prepared seasonal daily options. In a striking setting, with live music, Bovino is ideal for families, with a children’s menu on offer and even a PlayStation to keep the kids entertained.

Casa do Lago (pictured in main image) has to be one of the prettiest restaurants in Quinta do Lago in a stunning spot right by the edge of the water. A recent renovation of this popular restaurant, complete with wooden decking and panelling, is a nautical nod to its beautiful lakeside setting – it has the feeling of a yacht club, although think pedalos rather than superyachts here. As for the food, fresh fish and local seafood specialities are the order of the day, along with petiscos (Portuguese tapas), meat and pasta (don’t miss the spicy vodka rigatoni!). There’s also a kids’ menu and a vegetarian menu.

A much-loved favourite of guests to Quinta do Lago for over 35 years, Gigi’s Restaurant last year underwent a significant renovation, opening last summer with a greater focus on sustainability. The restaurant has maintained its original character and relaxed charm that has brought back visitors year after year, as well as its renowned menu of fish and seafood, but now features a larger terrace, more accessible features for those with reduced mobility and a new bar. Gigi’s Bar, as with the restaurant, is located right by the beach by the Ria Formosa Natural Park. It offers breathtaking views, Ria Formosa-inspired cocktails and light bites created from ingredients sourced in the local area.
