Explorations Company to launch once in a lifetime walking safari

Words: Will Moffitt

Launching this June, Explorations Company, the luxury safari and adventure specialists, will be offering a single group of up to eight friends or family the opportunity to embark on an exclusive seven day walking safari with Botswana’s San Bushmen.

Guided by two of the most sought-after private guides in Africa, Ralph Bousfield and Aleksandra Orbeck-Nilsen, this incredible safari combines total immersion in the Kalahari with unparalleled access to the rich cultural heritage of the San people who have lived in harmony with the natural world for thousands of years.

Traversing expansive salt pans with guides steeped in local wisdom and expert knowledge of the land – from the smallest insects to the mighty elephants that roam the area – you'll watch men prepare bows, arrows and quivers, and spend time with the women making beads from ostrich eggs and witness the trance dance of the San People.

Nights will be spent in comfortable camps and there will be opportunities for evening game drives to look for nocturnal inhabitants such as aardvark, bat-eared foxes, porcupine and honey badgers. There’s even the possibility of encountering a black-maned Kalahari lion, if you’re lucky.

This journey is not just about sightseeing and learning but also about making a difference. By embarking on this adventure, you will be helping to support the Sans people and their sustainable living initiatives, as well as wildlife conservation efforts in the area. This is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure not to be missed.

From USD27,500 pps (25% of fee (guide fee) is donated to local community and conservation projects) based on a minimum of 2 / maximum of 8 travellers. Price includes international flights. www.explorationscompany.com
