Enjoy a new festive afternoon tea by one of the world’s best pastry chefs
Ring in the Christmas season in style with a festive afternoon tea with a difference at the Carlton Tower Jumeirah.
The five-star hotel, on Cadogan Place, recently unveiled its seasonal offering with a menu created by Jessica Prealpato – considered one of the world’s greatest pastry chefs.
It’s true to Jessica’s signature style, Desseralité - a mixture of the words desert and naturalité – which preserves and enhances the entirety of the whole fruits and ingredients. A festive iteration of her classic afternoon tea menu – ‘A Tribute to Nature’ – it’s inspired by the flora and botanicals across the gardens of England and kicks off with a palette cleanser of mandarin sorbet, verbena oil and salted mandarin.
Hot on its heels is the ‘scone experience’ – a quartet of specially created scones with the flavours of Christmas including a chocolate scone with truffle crémeux and a dried grapes scone with a Christmas condiment.
Patisserie includes a Christmas pain perdu with a beer steamed meringue and crème Anglaise, in addition to a centrepiece Christmas log, orange and mandarin tart with hot wine jelly and roasted apple with chestnut mousse.
It’s accompanied by a selection of teas or for something more decadent, you can enjoy a glass of Billecart-Salmon or Dom Perignon champagne.
The tea is served in the cosy, newly launched Chinoiserie Tea Room and will run until January, priced from £75 per person. Those looking for a gift can also take home a variety of handmade creations – from stollen to Christmas biscuits and a gingerbread house kit – with a new festive pop-up shop.
