Our pick of the best restaurants in Mayfair

From Michelin-starred fine dining to award-winning pizza in a pub, London’s most affluent neighbourhood has no shortage of great eats to choose from

Our pick of the best restaurants in Mayfair

As you might expect, when it comes to great Mayfair restaurants, we’re thoroughly spoiled for choice. The area is packed with top-tier dining spots, from old favourites like Scott’s and Cecconi’s to newer arrivals like Bar Finch and Dover Street Counter. Then there are lower key options like Crisp and The Farm Shop – proof that it is still possible to find affordable restaurants in Mayfair.

Here’s our round-up of the very best restaurants in Mayfair. We’ll be updating it regularly, so do keep checking back for new additions.

Bar Finch

Bar Finch

One of the newer Mayfair restaurants around, Bar Finch is the brainchild of British film producer and polymath Charles Finch. Finch is famous for knowing anyone who’s anyone and was once described as “the man with the golden Rolodex”, so you never know who you’re going to bump into here – including Finch himself, who likes to preside over the velvet-boothed, tartan-carpeted dining room.

As the proprietor himself admits, “there is nothing particularly innovative about Bar Finch”. Instead, it leans heavily into nostalgia, with a menu that champions comforting club classics – think roast chicken, steak frites and croque monsieur. Cocktails, meanwhile are split into two categories: Finch Specials and Forgotten Classics, with highlights including the French Pearl, made with Haymans London Dry gin, fresh lemon juice, sugar, mint, Absinthe and Champagne. Cecconi's

Cecconi's

An oldie but a goodie, Cecconi’s has been running since 1978 and still hits the spot. One of the best Mayfair restaurants for lunch – especially if it happens to be a power lunch – you’ll find titans of all sorts of industries perched on the pistachio green chairs, from patrons of the Royal Academy across the road to local hedge fund managers.

They come for the reliably delicious Northern Italian dishes and the slick service. Start with some cicchetti for the table, which ranges from quail eggs and salt cod croquettes to zucchini fritti, before moving on to pasta, risotto or veal Milanese. It’s a long-time favourite for a reason. LB

Dover Street Counter

Dover Street Counter

If you’re looking for the coolest place to eat in Mayfair right now, it might just be Dover Street Counter. The more laidback, playful little sister to The Dover – which is often hailed as the sexiest restaurant in Mayfair – this place is perennially packed, particularly come nightfall. People flock here for the fun bar and counter-style dining and the “feel-good” food and drink.

Those happy-making dishes include Disco Fries, loaded with pickled chilli, ginger, mayo and disco jus, and the much-lauded DSC French Dip, a sliced roast beef baguette served with a side of rich beef gravy for dipping. Elegant this food ain’t, but it is delicious. LB

Pavyllon London

Pavyllon London

If you’re into fine dining, no doubt you’re familiar with Pavyllon – it’s run by Yannick Alléno, the world's most Michelin-starred chef, after all. Launched in 2023 within the Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane it’s Alléno’s first restaurant in the capital and has swiftly cemented itself as a must-visit on any discerning gourmet’s culinary bucket list.

The seasonal menu champions British produce and is ever-changing. It might include a crispy Orkney scallop tartlet to start, followed by wagyu beef mille feuille and blue lobster tail or hay-barbecued Cornwall lamp chop with samphire pistou. Can’t decide? You can’t go wrong with one of their tasting menus. If you’re in the mood for something a little less formal make a beeline for his newly-opened La Croissanterie in the Pavyllon Lounge, where you can feast on London’s most decadent croissants, topped with everything from Scottish lobster to toasted almond cream. Dante

Dante

Originally starting out as a pop-up at Claridge’s, this New York transplant proved so popular it’s now become a permanent fixture at the legendary hotel. Its unique brand of Manhattan glamour has certainly gone down well in Mayfair. Perhaps that’s down to the fact Dante offers breakfast from 8am to 11am, followed by all-day dining from midday until 9.30pm (10.30pm Thursday to Saturday). According to Australian co-owner Linden Pride, “You can have what you want, when you want.”

That includes starters of freshly shucked Carlingford oysters and caviar tart and mains like grilled Dover sole and veal Milanese. But, let’s be honest, plenty of people come for the first-rate cocktails, which include the cult Garibaldi made with Campari and fluffy orange juice and the excellent Martini list. No doubt you’ve spotted their hugely popular Honeybee on Instagram, which often comes topped with a photo of the drinker’s face, printed on foam in edible ink. Genius. LB

Must-try dish: Dante smash burger on a house-made brioche bun

The Ritz Restaurant

The Ritz Restaurant

If you really want to impress someone, you can’t go wrong with a meal at The Ritz. There’s nothing quite as grand as sweeping through the lobby and into the impressive dining room, which is opulent enough to rival the Palace of Versailles. Everywhere you look there’s a thing of beauty, from twinkling crystal chandeliers and gold leaf detailing to the hand-painted ceiling. And that’s before you even get to the menu.

Helmed by Executive Chef John Williams MBE for over 20 years, the tasting menus at this two-Michelin-starred spot change with the seasons. Choosing between a five-course or seven-course experience, the hero is always the freshest British produce, whether that’s Dorset crab or Cornish turbot. For dessert it has to be the Ritz chocolate soufflé, which is light and fluffy as air.

Must-try dish: Beef Wellington with Madeira and Périgord truffle, carved tableside

Sabor

Sabor

Ask a group of top London chefs about their favourite restaurants in the capital and several will invariably namecheck Sabor. Headed up by Spanish chef Nieves Barragán, it’s an insider’s fave for a reason. Delightfully unfussy despite its Michelin star, the focus here is on great Spanish food served in a lively atmosphere. There are four different spots to choose from depending what sort of mood you’re in. La Mesa is the buzzy dining room on the ground floor, while the counter is where you can watch the chefs in action. If you haven’t booked a table in advance (which is highly recommended), the bar is a walk-in-only spot where can sip Spanish gins and sherries and feast on tapas dishes.

Venture up the spiral staircase for a completely different experience. In El Asador, the focus is on specialties from the Galicia and Castile regions, from milk-fed lamb shoulder to the restaurant’s infamous whole suckling pig. If you really feel like pushing the boat out order the feast menu, where you can stuff yourself silly on prawn croquettes, seafood rice and tortilla Gallega.

Price: £££

Must-try dish: Segovian suckling pig

The Farm Shop wine bar

The Farm Shop wine bar

Mayfair isn’t exactly known for its laidback, affordable spots, but the wine bar at The Farm Shop is exactly that. Tucked away below the stripy-awninged Farm Shop on South Audley Street, this atmospheric wine bar is a real hidden gem. As you might expect it has a gloriously extensive wine list, with a glass of house wine starting from £6. There’s also an impressive list of champagnes starting from £108 a bottle so don’t worry, there’s still plenty of Mayfair glamour here.

The cheese and charcuterie boards are first-rate, laden down with everything from Dorset chorizo and wild venison pepperoni to Lincolnshire Poacher and Bath Blue. There’s also a very worthy selection of small plates to choose from, with highlight including Old Spot pork belly with baked potatoes, charred octopus and Farm Shop rotisserie chicken with roasted potatoes. For a first date or a mid-week catch up with friends you can’t go wrong.

Price: ££

Must-try dish: The cheese and charcuterie board to share

Hélène Darroze at The Connaught

Hélène Darroze at The Connaught

As the only woman in Mayfair to have ever received three Michelin stars, you’re always in for a treat when you pay a visit to Hélène Darroze’s restaurant at The Connaught. It’s not for nothing that she’s become one of France's most celebrated chefs, and Darroze displays her considerable talents with serious panache here. And while the idea of a restaurant with three stars might feel intimidating, the reality is anything but, thanks to The Connaught’s uncanny ability to put anyone and everyone at ease as soon as they walk into the wood-panelled lobby.

The menu changes with the seasons, so you never know quite what to expect here, but you can guarantee every single dish will be crafted with the utmost care. Dishes are inspired by Darroze’s travels around the world, such as the Isle of Mull lobster with tandoori spices or the Brittany pigeon served with mole poblano. The wine pairings on offer, while pricy, elevate each dish to dizzying new heights.

Price: ££££

Must-try dish: The signature baba, doused in Darroze's family cognac

Mount St. Restaurant

Mount St. Restaurant

Opened by Artfarm, the hospitality company founded by Iwan and Manuela Wirth – who also happen to have co-founded Hauser & Wirth – Mount St. Restaurant is one of the most stylish, art-laden spots in Mayfair. The walls are lined with Freuds, Warhols and Picassos, and Phyllida Barlow created the technicolour ceiling installation for the ceiling in The Audley pub downstairs.

Hardly surprising, then, that it draws such a starry crowd. King Charles famously ate here with Queen Camilla soon after it opened, while everyone from Russell Crowe to Ryan Gosling has been spotted here. The kitchen is headed up by Executive Chef James Spears, who works with farmers across the UK to source the finest produce, including beef and lamb from the restaurant’s farm in Somerset, Durslade.

Must-try dish: Lobster pie for two

Bellamy's

Bellamy's

This Bruton Place stalwart often crops up on lists of the royal family’s favourite restaurants in London, as it is one of the very few public restaurants where the late Queen Elizabeth II dined, even hosting her 80th birthday party there. Presided over by the dapper proprietor Gavin Rankin, the Franco-Belgian brasserie feels like being transported to another era, with its crisp white tablecloths and cosy banquettes to sink into.

You can order à la carte, but those in-the-know come for the table d’hôte menus, which are served at both lunch and dinner and change every week. Dishes range from whitebait and crab salad to classics such as steak tartare and sea scallops à la planche, and you’ll always find reliable staples such as fillets of Dover sole and sliced entrecôte of beef on the main menu. Priced at £38.50 for two courses and £48 for three, it’s also a very reasonable offering in the heart of Mayfair.

Price: ££-£££

Must-try dish: Île Flottante

Scott's

Scott's

Founded in 1851 by fishmonger John Scott and originally opened as an oyster warehouse in Haymarket, Scott’s is one of London’s oldest and most storied seafood restaurants. It has long been a favoured haunt for A-listers – Ian Fleming, Marilyn Monroe and Winston Churchill used to dine here in the 1950s, while more recently it’s drawn everyone from Ronnie Wood to Gwyneth Paltrow.

When it comes to elevated fish dishes, there’s nowhere better in the capital. Start with six of their finest oysters before moving on to dressed crab and their fish of the day. It’s also one of the best Mayfair restaurants with outdoor seating – when the sun is shining, there’s nowhere lovelier than their outdoor terrace with a glass of something cold and crisp in hand.

Price: £££

Must-try dish: Meunière Dover sole

Lilibet’s

Lilibet’s

On 21 April 1926, a baby girl was born at 17 Bruton Street. Nobody expected her to become the Queen of England, but when her uncle infamously abdicated, history changed course forever. Lilibet's, named after Queen Elizabeth II’s childhood nickname, imagines what life might have been like if fate didn’t take its course, in a world where the young princess stayed put in Mayfair and the townhouse lived on as the backdrop to a rather glamorous life.

Ross Shonhan, the man behind Bone Daddies, has run with this idea. Expect floral wallpaper, an antique fireplace and an oyster bar, grill, heated terrace and cocktail bar all under one roof. The menu sends the princess on a tour of the Mediterranean, from anchovy éclairs to whole Dover sole. Indecisive? Order the Fish Triptych and your chosen fish arrives three ways. A fun one for a celebration. JW

Must-try dish: Turbot on the bone with pil pil sauce

Delfino

Delfino

A true Mayfair stalwart, Delfino has been on the same corner of Mount Street since 1953 and is still family-run. It's the kind of place locals have been coming to for decades and one of the few spots in the neighbourhood where dinner won't come with Mayfair prices.

The pizza is the draw. The dough is slowly proved for 72 hours for a light, airy crust, then finished with fior di latte from Naples and a tomato sauce made from a family recipe. Beyond that, think Italian classics such as penne all'arrabbiata, with a wine list that tours Italy from Piedmont to Sicily. Ideal for a laid-back weeknight supper or a family meal. JW

Price: £

Must-try dish: The signature Delfino pizza, with Parma ham, rocket and buffalo mozzarella
Address: 121a Mount Street, Mayfair, London W1K 3NW

Maru

Maru

At Maru, there's no menu. Tucked away in Shepherd Market, this intimate counter restaurant practises omakase, which roughly translates as "I'll leave it up to the chef". With this, you place your trust in the skilled hands of chefs Taiji Maruyama, a Nobu alumnus, and Yasuhiro Ochiai, who spent seven years leading the kitchen at Tsukumo in Nara.

With only a handful of seats around the counter, it feels more like a dinner party than a restaurant. Course after course arrives across the evening, built around raw and cooked fish and shellfish at their seasonal best, with a sake pairing for those who want to go all in. Book well ahead and save it for a special occasion. JW

Price: ££££

Must-try dish: There's only one option – the omakase, which changes with the seasons

CUT at 45 Park Lane

CUT at 45 Park Lane

Wolfgang Puck's London outpost sits inside Dorchester Collection's 45 Park Lane, and the only dilemma is where to look. Damien Hirst artworks hang on the walls and leafy Hyde Park lies beyond the windows. It opens for breakfast, but this modern American steakhouse truly comes alive after dark.

Steak, unsurprisingly, is the star. USDA Prime, Australian and Japanese Wagyu sit alongside dry-aged British beef, with sauces from béarnaise to chimichurri. Those with an appetite can share a Wagyu tomahawk and Puck's crab and lobster roll makes a fine opening act. On Sundays, the roast is carved with suitable ceremony. One for a big night out or for impressing a client. JW

Price: ££££

Must-try dish: The Taste of CUT, which pairs UK sirloin with Japanese and Australian Wagyu Address: 45 Park Lane, Mayfair, London W1K 1PN

Bonheur

Bonheur

Few Mayfair addresses carry as much weight as 43 Upper Brook Street, which was once the home of Le Gavroche, the first restaurant in Britain to win three Michelin stars. Filling those shoes is Matt Abé, Gordon Ramsay's long-time right-hand man and former chef patron of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, who opened Bonheur in late 2025 with his old boss as business partner. Michelin was quick to approve, awarding it two stars on its very first appearance in the guide.

The name means happiness, and it's hard to leave without some. The cooking is classical but modern and built around British produce – think Isle of Skye scallop with black fig and coconut – and you can choose between tasting menus or à la carte. This is one for the big occasions, so save room for the wine list, which is formidable. JW

Price: ££££

Must-try dish: 125-day-aged Cumbrian Blue Grey with potato, parsley and smoked bone marrow

Theo Randall at the InterContinental

Theo Randall at the InterContinental

A Park Lane fixture since 2006, Theo Randall's restaurant has outlasted plenty of flashier openings, and for good reason. Randall spent 17 years at the River Café, where he was head chef when it won its first Michelin star, and that produce-led, no-fuss approach continues to be the backbone of everything he cooks.

The menu changes daily depending on what's best at market, with plenty of inspiration from his regular trips to Italy. The best way in is the Regional Tasting Menu, which celebrates a different corner of Italy each month, so no two visits need be the same. Start with a Negroni at the bar. Reliable, generous and great for a long, lazy dinner. JW

Murano

Murano

Angela Hartnett's Michelin-starred restaurant on Queen Street is a love letter to her Italian family heritage, pairing humble home cooking with fine-dining polish. It's smart without being stuffy and the format is refreshingly flexible. Rather than a fixed tasting menu, you choose how many courses you fancy and pick freely from each section.

The kitchen builds the menu around British produce with an Italian accent, so expect handmade pasta, including hand-rolled tagliatelle with wild mushrooms and Marsala and, when it’s in season, Aynhoe venison with celeriac and gnocchi. Ideal for a grown-up celebration, it’s also one of the best local restaurants with private dining, and the private dining room doubles as a chef's table if you want to make a night of it. JW

Ormer Mayfair at Flemings

Ormer Mayfair at Flemings

One of the best Mayfair restaurants with a Michelin star, Ormer sits inside Flemings Mayfair and is easy to walk straight past, which is half its charm. Executive chef Sofian Msetfi, who won the star in 2024, draws on his Moroccan and Irish roots, and you can taste both. Bread is a sesame khobz with salted Irish butter and dinner ends with a choice of Irish coffee or Moroccan mint tea.

In between comes a tasting menu built on British produce, much of it grown in the kitchen garden at Down Hall, Flemings' sister hotel in Essex. Highlights include cured Cornish mackerel with Oscietra caviar and roast Yorkshire duck with zaalouk, the smoky Moroccan aubergine dish. Leave room for the cheese trolley. Perfect for a romantic dinner. JW

Price: ££££

Chez Rose

Chez Rose

Named after chef Spencer Metzger's late grandmother Rosemary, Chez Rose is a relaxed neighbourhood bistro from Metzger and Irha and Jason Atherton, marrying seasonal British produce with classic French technique. Don't let the easy-going feel fool you; Metzger also runs thet wo-Michelin-starred Row on 5 with Jason Atherton, so the cooking is in serious hands.

Start with French onion gougères and Maldon oysters, then move on to steak tartare or Brixham crab. Larger plates include Dover sole meunière and beef au poivre. Come with company, though, as the best things are for two, from a bone-in rib-eye to a chocolate soufflé that needs ordering in advance. A great shout for date night. JW

Crisp Mayfair

Crisp Mayfair

Hammersmith's cult pizza spot has crossed town. Crisp now lives inside The Marlborough, a proper pub on the corner of North Audley Street, so the formula is the same as ever: pizza and a pint. It takes bookings, but tables are held back for walk-ins and dogs are welcome in the pub upstairs. It also happens to be one of the most affordable restaurants in Mayfair.

The pizzas are New York-style, with 12-inch pies alongside bar pies and square grandma pies to share. Classics like pepperoni sit next to house inventions such as the Tie-Dye, with a spicy tequila sauce and a swirl of pesto, while the Crisp W6 pie is a nod to where it all began. The best casual meal in Mayfair, Guinness in hand. JW

MiMi Mei Fair

MiMi Mei Fair

If you’re looking for the best Chinese restaurants in Mayfair, MiMi Mei Fair would be right near the top of the list. Part of Samyukta Nair’s restaurant empire, the jewel box-pretty restaurant is modelled on the secret residence of Empress MiMi, a made-up character whose imagined travels and curiosities collected across old-world China inspired both the menu and the interiors.

The signature dish here is the apple wood-fired roasted Peking duck, which is theatrically carved tableside when ordered whole and comes with crisp, lacquered skin. To celebrate the restaurant’s fifth anniversary, the restaurant has launched an ode to Peking duck, a limited-edition menu running until the end of October, where dishes include duck xiao long bao, crispy spring roll of hand pulled duck and, of course, the Peking duck. Book on the weekend for the epic dim sum brunch. LB
