Coronavirus is a major setback for the Crossrail project, as work on sites, including Bond Street, has been put on hold, other than essential safety measures.
Mark Wild, chief executive, Crossrail said: Covid-19 will have an impact – it’s too early to tell what the impact will be.”
Meanwhile, public realm work on the western side of Hanover Square and Tenterden Street was due to start this month, after “great progress” was made throughout 2019, with works on the eastern side of the square nearly complete.
Crossrail had been due to open in December 2018 but the central sections are unlikely to open until summer 2022 at the earliest.
