Celebrate the Chinese New Year with an Asian tea experience at The Westbury Mayfair.



Enjoy an array of delicious treats in a special afternoon tea at The Westbury Mayfair to welcome the Year of the Rat. 

Guests are welcomed with two mandarin oranges, part of a tradition symbolising wealth and prosperity in the year ahead.

Savoury food on offer includes Tea Quail Eggs (green tea, croustade, umami mayonnaise, dill and red shiso), served in edible eggcups.

Polo Bao, or steamed buns, contain a special char siu filling of Chinese barbecue pork.

The Asian-inspired tea is available in the hotel’s POLO Bar from 12pm to 6pm on weekends.


Edible bonsai

The highlight of the tea is the eye-catching Matcha Mousse (pictured left).

It looks like a Bonsai tree in soil, surrounded by moss.

But the good news is, it is all edible.

It is actually gula Melaka mousse, Matcha almond sponge and Matcha meringue.


Oriental flavours

Other sweet dishes on offer include pineapple tart, mango tart, pandan puff and mandarin and chocolate cake.

There is a selection of Oriental flavour finger sandwiches. These include smoked duck breast, hoisin sauce, spring onion and crispy shallot; cucumber and wasabi cream cheese; and tuna, umami mango, kombu powder and pickled ginger.

Plus, it wouldn’t be afternoon tea without homemade scones with seasonal jam and clotted cream.

To drink, guests can choose Champagne or a selection of loose-leaf teas, including an authentic Bubble Tea.
