Humble rice will take centre stage at three Michelin-starred chef’s new restaurant in Fitzrovia
When award-winning Valencian chef Quique Dacosta opens his new Arros QD restaurant in Fitzrovia this summer, he will focus on Paella.
His flagship in Spain – the Quique Dacosta Restaurant – has held three Michelin stars since 2013, is on the World’s 100 Best Restaurants List and has been awarded Best European Restaurant by Opinionated about Dining twice.
But Dacosta, excited about opening his first restaurant outside Spain here in London, wants to display his passion for rice.
“Paella is one of the best-known dishes around yet also one of the most mistreated.
“With this project, I am materialising a passion I have been nurturing for decades: to reinstate the rice culture from the eastern coast of Spain to its rightful home,” he said.
Quique, a pioneer of avant-garde cuisine, has built a name for himself around the world over the past 30 years for his artistic expression in the kitchen.
The menu at Arros QD will focus on rice dishes, traditional and contemporary, all cooked over a wood fire and using seasonal ingredients.
The rest of the menu will feature meat, vegetable and fish courses also cooked over fire or charcoal.
Diners will be able to watch their dinner cooking on the eight metre flame grill in the open kitchen.
The restaurant, set over two floors, will have distinct areas including a lounge with bar seating, a chef’s paella counter and a chef’s table.
The setting is designed to be sophisticated yet relaxing.
Meanwhile the drinks list will pay tribute to the wine grapes that are grown around the Mediterranean Sea, as well as cocktails from the sea’s key cities.
Seasonal and locally sourced botanicals and fruits will also be served, combined with unique spirits to bring out the best flavour.
Arros QD opens on Fitzrovia’s 64 Eastcastle Street, London W1W 8NQ, from June 7th.
